Fire red 4 and Flint 13
I come from a very middle class household and my parents never had enough to spoil me and my brothers, but were able to allow us to live comfortably. As I entered my teen years, I developed a strange relationship with pop culture, hip-hop, and basketball. I became very involved with this culture and wanted a pair of Air Jordans, so that I could be like Michael.

I asked my parents for a pair, but they simply told me they couldn’t afford them. I was crushed, but determined to buy these shoes. As a result, I started doing odd jobs for family and family friends. Two months later, I was able to buy my own pair of Jordans, the Flint 13s. The Flint 13s, were the start of my collection.
Fast forward two years later, and the sneaker game had exploded. No one outside of the sneaker community could imagine how popular limited edition sneakers would become. A sneaker that had a retail cost of $160-$175 would sell upward toward $200-$225. I saw how immense popularity rose and I capitalized on it. |
The first pair of shoes that I bought to resell were the Air Jordan Fire Red 4s. I woke up at 6 in the morning, rode my bike to the mall, and waited in line for an hour in order to buy these shoes. The wait was worth it because after I bought the shoes, I sold them for $220 within a week. This shoe started my “sneaker business”, which allowed me to buy my first car.
